The Place For Me By Anthony .C. and Jarrod .M.
I love a sunny beach
Waves lapping at the shore
Seagulls in the sky
Eating fish and chips and more
I love our unique culture
Our parties and traditions
But sometimes seasons change
Come winter ‘n’ bad conditions
I love the bushy mountains
Full of green head to toe
Oh how I love the plants and animals
To encourage them to grow
I love our beautiful sunsets
And how they light the sea
Make the water crystal clear
Australia’s the place for me.

My Australia Day (Chris)
On Australia Day I was invited to my grandmothers house for lunch just like every year. The lunch would consist of entrees, the main meal, and dessert. The dessert is a lovely lemon meringue pie with cream and fruit made by my grandmother.
After everyone arrived we started the main meal delicious sausages and steaks and lots of salad. While everyone was eating we all talked about everything, life, school, friends, sports and most of all footy. We had all finished the main so we had a break in-between lunch and dessert, so all the men went inside to watch the footy.
Every Australia Day the footy is on so all the men are usually waiting for it to start. This year the Tigers were playing the sharks and half of us go for Tigers and the other half go for the Sharks so there was a lot of yelling whenever someone scored. In the end the Tigers won 16-10.
We had to have dessert in half time so that after the game we could still have time to play backyard cricket. It was 7 on 7 and there were men, women and child playing. Most of the men were on one team and kids and women of the other. The game lasted over an hour and was a lot of fun; we didn’t keep score so that there was no fighting afterwards.
After the game everyone was so tired, so most of them went home to sleep. A few people stayed at grandmothers house for a while after the majority had left. Grandmother asked me if I wanted to stay the night and I sort of felt like I didn’t want to drive home and I stayed. Later that night grandmother slipped something under my pillow then left.
I didn’t look at the note until I woke up in the morning and it was just a piece of old brown paper with a bunch of ingredients on it. I asked her what is was for and she said it was her recipe for her lovely lemon meringue pie with cream and fruit. She told me that it was time she pasted on the recipe that her grandmother gave to her.
Before I left later that morning I decided that when I got home I would make it for the first time in my life and I said goodbye and good luck to my grandmother then went on home to make that lemon meringue pie.
